01

ATS vs CRM in plain English

Think of it this way: your ATS helps you find and place people. Your CRM helps you find and grow clients. There is overlap, and some recruitment ATS platforms already include useful CRM features.

02

Where HubSpot fits

The useful bit is having one place to see which employers your agency is talking to, what the opportunity is and what needs to happen next.

  • Employer and prospect pipeline
  • Business-development activity
  • Forms and inbound leads
  • Email marketing and nurture
  • Reporting on where new business comes from
03

Where it does not fit

I would not buy HubSpot expecting it to replace a proper Applicant Tracking System. Candidate search, job management, submissions and placements are a different job. Trying to force one system to do everything usually creates more work, not less.

04

The catch

HubSpot is easy to start with, but the broader platform can become more expensive as you add advanced marketing, automation and larger contact volumes. Work out what you actually need before upgrading.

05

Who should shortlist it?

Agencies that want CRM, marketing and lead generation to work together. If all you need is a very simple sales pipeline, Pipedrive may be the cleaner option.

The practical takeaway

Keep it useful. Keep it simple.

HubSpot is worth a look if growing employer relationships is the problem you are trying to solve. But first check what the client-management features in your existing ATS can already do.
